FireAngel continues to be a popular choice for Scotland’s River Clyde Housing Association

Following the Scottish Government’s pending legislative changes, River Clyde Housing Association have chosen FireAngel’s range of Specification alarms to help ensure compliance with the latest regulations affecting all Scottish homes.

One of Europe’s leading smoke, heat and carbon monoxide alarm manufacturers, FireAngel Safety Technology Limited, has become River Clyde Homes new supplier of choice for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

Working closely with River Clyde Homes’ Void Team through their Store Partner Electric Base, over 5,500 properties in Scotland will have FireAngel alarms installed to ensure compliance with the Scottish Government’s new LD2 standard of specification.

Replacing previously installed Aico alarms, the FireAngel WST-630 smoke alarm and WHT-630 heat alarm will ensure all properties are compliant with the new legislative changes, which have been brought into effect following the Grenfell fire tragedy of 2017. Under these changes to the Housing (Scotland) Act, all homes require the installation of sealed long-life battery or mains wired interlinked alarms, with one functioning smoke alarm in the room that is most frequently used by the occupants in the daytime.

The legislation also requires one functioning smoke alarm to be installed in every circulation space on every floor, such as hallways and landings, and one heat alarm in every kitchen. A carbon monoxide alarm will also need to be fitted in each room with a carbon-fuelled appliance or flue.

Paul Kilmarnock, Repairs and Void Manager for River Clyde Homes, said: “Working with FireAngel to ensure our properties are compliant with the new LD2 specification changes has been a seamless process, providing us with a cost effective specification of alarms that are easy to install and offer the greatest standard in fire protection. It also provides our tenants the peace of mind their properties are adequately protected.”

The Wi-Safe 2 wireless interlink alarms from FireAngel were chosen not only to ensure each property achieves constant compliance – through the use of interlinked alarms installed in the kitchen, hallway and living room – but also due to the utilisation of FireAngel’s unique Thermoptek Multi-Sensor technology.

Neil Smith, Group Chief Executive of FireAngel, commented: “We are extremely pleased to be working with River Clyde Homes, providing its regional portfolio of properties with our high quality WST-630 smoke alarms and WHT-630 heat alarms. As the new legislation becomes enforced throughout Scotland, we are proactively working with the country’s housing associations to ensure all properties are compliant and offer tenants the highest standard in fire protection.”
