From April 2022, FireAngel is launching a new range of optical sensor smoke and Thermistor sensor heat alarms. These alarms feature an array of exciting features and will be replacing a few of our current units.
You will be able to find them in your local DIY stores such as B&Q, Screwfix, Homebase and online at Amazon and Safelincs.
Our new smoke alarm range features optical sensing technology. The optical smoke sensing chamber works by ‘seeing’ smoke as it enters the alarm. This makes it the perfect detector for slow burning fires, where there is thick white smoke. For the fastest response to all fire types, search for FireAngel Thermoptek alarms.
FA6620-R: FireAngel Optical Smoke Alarm with a 10 year lifetime battery
Looking for a FireAngel ST-622 or ST-620 smoke alarm replacement? With the FA6620-R, you can replace your end of life alarm without requiring a new base plate or leaving unsightly holes in your ceiling.
Our FA6620-R Optical Smoke Alarm is certified to the European Standard EN 14604 and comes with a sealed, tamper proof battery that will last the lifetime of the alarm. The sensor within the unit will deteriorate after 10 years, so to ensure you’re protected we recommend you replace the unit after this time.

FA6611-R: FireAngel Optical Smoke Alarm with Escape Light with 3 year replaceable batteries
The FA6611-R replaces any end of life FireAngel ST-623E, ST-622 or ST-620 smoke alarms.
With an extra bright light beam and loud, clear alarm, the FA6611-R will ensure you and your family are alerted to danger and guided to safety.
This alarm features optical sensing technology, is certified to the European Standard EN 14604 and is perfect for landings, hallways and bedrooms.
The unit is provided with 2 x AA batteries which will last three years and can then be replaced.

FA6615-R: FireAngel Optical Smoke Alarm with 5 year replaceable batteries
Another alternative to replace your FireAngel ST-622 or ST-620 smoke alarm, is the FA6615-R optical smoke alarm with a 5 year battery.
All our alarms are subject to third-party testing and certification, giving you peace of mind protection. Our FA6615-R optical smoke alarm is certified to the European Standard EN 14604.
The unit is provided with 2 x AA batteries which will last five years and can then be replaced.

FA6720-R: FireAngel Kitchen Heat Alarm with a 10 year lifetime battery
Replace your end of life FireAngel HT-630 heat alarm with the FA6720-R to continue to be alerted to fires that may start in your kitchen, attic or garage.
All our alarms are subject to third-party testing and certification, giving you peace of mind protection. Our FA6720-R Heat Alarm is certified to the British Standard BS5446.
The unit comes with a sealed for life, tamper proof lithium battery. The sensor within the unit will deteriorate after 10 years, so to ensure you’re protected we recommend you replace the unit after this time.

Our FA6611-R and FA6615-R alarms will require a new MP7 baseplate installed when replacing any end of life alarms.

We’ve made testing at home all the easier, with a large, central test button and the ability to easily silence known false alarms to 10-minutes giving you time to waft away the smell of burnt toast and return to peace and quiet once again.

Rest peacefully with sleep easy
With our sleep easy function, you can silence low battery chirps for 8 hours, up to 10 times. This feature not only allows you to enjoy a silent night’s sleep, but gives you vital time to take action and replace your batteries.
For a less disruptive way to ensure all your alarms are in working order, try our new quiet self-test option. You’ll also still be able to test your alarms at full volume.
In order to identify how many alarms to install you need to research the guidelines for fire detection that apply in your local area, using regulations such as Building Regulations or the guidance in BS5839-6, and consider your property type; whether that be privately owned, rented, new build or renovated.
The advice below is purely provided for ‘best practice’ and should not be used independently. Please note, these alarms are not suitable for homes in Scotland under the new Fire & CO regulations.
Smoke Alarms
To offer high protection, FireAngel advise a smoke alarm within the circulation area of each floor of the property, as well as within the main habitable areas such as bedrooms and living room.
It’s important to remember that the sensors in all smoke alarms deteriorate after time, at FireAngel we recommend that smoke alarms are replaced every 10 years.
Heat Alarms (Kitchen Alarms)
We recommend a heat alarm is fitted in the kitchen, but you can also fit additional heat alarms in the garage and loft to protect these areas.
Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms
An audible Carbon Monoxide detector is the only way to be alerted to a carbon monoxide leak; it can’t be smelt, tasted or seen so it’s impossible for human senses to detect.
Known as the ‘Silent Killer’, CO occurs when fuels burn incompletely, with common sources being boilers, gas fires and hobs and solid fuel burners. However, carbon monoxide can also pass through walls, so you would also be at risk if a neighbouring property had a leak.
FireAngel recommend a CO alarm is installed between 1 m and 3 m away from each fuel-burning appliance, as well as installing additional units in areas such as living rooms and bedrooms where you spend most time whilst at home.
