At FireAngel, we love supporting our community wherever we can and educating the younger generation about home and CO (carbon monoxide) safety.
That’s why FireAngel’s National Key Account Manager, Elizabeth Mitchel was delighted to support the Henley & Wootton Scout Group and Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service in running an educational home safety workshop for children.
During the interactive workshop, each Scout member participated in a series of home safety worksheets and puzzles that were designed to raise awareness about potential fire risks in the home. Through these activities, children learned about fire and CO alarms, escape plans and how to prevent fires from starting in the first place.
The importance of educating children about home fire and CO safety cannot be overstated. According to the National Fire Protection Association, children under the age of five are twice as likely to die in a home fire than any other age group. By teaching children about fire safety, we can help prevent accidents from occurring and save lives.
Speaking about the session with the Scouts, Elizabeth said: “We believe that educating children about fire safety is an essential part of keeping our community safe, and the home safety workshop with the Henley & Wootton Scout Group was a fantastic example of this. We had a great time with the Scouts, it was fantastic to see how engaged the kids were with the activities and FireAngel’s home safety jigsaw puzzle. We would like to also thank Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service and the Henley & Wootton Scout Group for having us.”
The bespoke jigsaw puzzle is the first of its kind in the UK and originally created in partnership with Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service (DFRS) to be used by community safety officers to engage year six students at 400 schools across Derbyshire.
