Are you a
Homeowner? When the Smart RF Module (FS1521W2-T) is fitted into a Smart RF compatible FireAngel alarm, it enables the device to be wirelessly interlinked with other Smart RF enabled devices.
When any of the interlinked alarms are triggered by smoke, heat or carbon monoxide in the case of CO alarms, the triggered device will transmit messages to the other units in the network, sounding all the alarms in the system simultaneously. So when one alarm sounds, they all sound. Ensuring the earliest warning of fire, to the maximum number of people. Between two and fifty alarms can be interlinked into a single network.
NOTE: You will need the User Manual for the device you are installing the Smart RF Module into.
When handling Smart RF Modules, please read User Manuals carefully before proceeding, and pay particular attention to the ESD handling guidelines.
The unit is now ready to be “learned-in” or “interlinked” to additional Smart RF products.
To wirelessly interlink two FireAngel Specification devices using a Smart RF module, follow our step‑by‑step video:
You are currently viewing a placeholder content from Default. To access the actual content, click the button below. Please note that doing so will share data with third-party providers.
Or follow the below step‑by step process of ‘learning‑in’ two Smart RF alarms into a network: “Alarm 1” and “Alarm 2”.
Alarm 2 will be the device into which you have installed the Smart RF Module.
It is recommended that you read through these instructions prior to starting the process.
Alarm 1: Before starting, refer to the product’s User Manual to ensure the alarm is activated and ready to be learned-in, with its mounting plate (if appropriate) attached. Please test the unit once after mounting to baseplate.
Alarm 2: Using a pen, a very small screwdriver or paper clip that has been opened out, briefly push and release the learn button located in a small hole in the Smart RF Module.
The red LED next to the learn in button will flash briefly then light up for approximately five seconds to show that it is ready to receive the learn‑in signal. During the next 5 seconds you will need to briefly press the test button on Alarm 1 to wirelessly interlink the two alarms.
Alarm 1: Will give an audible sound consisting of 2 cycles of 3 loud beeps.
Alarm 2: The red LED on the Smart RF Module of Alarm 2 will flash to indicate that it has been learned-in successfully.
NOTE: If the test button is not pressed quickly enough (before the red LED on the Smart RF Module of Alarm 2 has extinguished), the learn-in process will fail. If this happens, repeat the learn-in process again, as described above.
Additional products should be “learned‑in” in the same way. When learning in additional alarms, any alarm already in the network, can be used as ‘Alarm 1’. This means that you can learn‑in the additional alarm into any unit already in the network. It will then become part of the whole network.
NOTE: You do not need to “learn in” the additional alarm into each alarm in the network.
After completing the “learn‑in” procedure, test the alarms as described in “alarm test” in the product’s user manual. For information about where to position the alarm, and operational guidelines, please see the User Manual for the Smart RF Manual product.
NOTE: The wireless range of the module is over 200 metres in clear air/clear line of sight. Always ensure that after any building work or after repositioning large items of furniture (beds, sofas, shelving units etc.), you carry out an alarm test on all networked alarms to ensure they are all still communicating. It is recommended not to exceed 35m as the maximum distance between any interlinked Smart RF alarm. Ideally, each unit should have three or more units within 35m of its location.
