Are you a
Homeowner?Celebrating the 50th anniversary of West Midlands Fire and Rescue Services (WMFRS), it was an unforgettable day to support and thousands of community members gathered to honour five decades of courage and dedication.
The atmosphere was fantastic as families, friends, and local residents gathered for the open day. Visitors were treated to thrilling live demonstrations, where firefighters showcased their lifesaving skills, providing a glimpse into their daily heroics.
The West Midlands Fire Service Heritage Group also supported the day and captivated attendees with their fascinating display of vintage firefighting equipment and memorabilia. Carefully curated from Aston Fire Station’s Museum, these historic artifacts painted a vivid picture of how firefighting has evolved over the years.
From local businesses to community groups, the event was a testament to Birmingham’s strong community spirit. There were also many other stalls, offering a variety of goods and services, while family-friendly activities ensured there was something for everyone.
Simon Mahon, Crew Manager of Blue Watch at Ward End Fire Station, expressed heartfelt gratitude:
“Thank you for your support; we’re really grateful for everything. Thousands of people turned up to our community open day, making it a bigger success than we could ever imagine—possibly the biggest community open day we have had to date! Thank you again to FireAngel.”
For over 15 years, FireAngel has been at the forefront of enhancing community safety, providing high quality fire safety products that are supplied by FRS nationally. By installing FireAngel’s trusted alarms, WMFRS ensures that every home visited as part of a ‘Safe and Well Check’ is better protected against fire hazards as well as raising awareness of dangers in the home.
The success of Ward End Fire Station’s community open day was a collective triumph, reflecting the strength and unity of the West Midlands community. The FireAngel team were grateful to be part of celebrating shared values and mutual support for the day and beyond.
As we look forward to future anniversaries, the partnership between WMFRS and FireAngel promises to continue fostering safety, innovation and community engagement. Here’s to another 50 years of safeguarding lives and building stronger communities together!
