FireAngel is proud to support National Apprenticeship Week 2026, highlighting the value of apprenticeships in building skills, supporting career progression and strengthening the future of fire safety.

National Apprenticeship Week 2026 runs from 9–15 February and shines a light on the real value apprenticeships bring; not only for individuals starting their careers, but for industries that rely on skilled, competent professionals.

With 88% of apprentices saying their career prospects improve and 94% moving into work or further training, apprenticeships remain a strong pathway to long-term employment. FireAngel is proud to support apprentices shaping the future of fire safety.

Why apprenticeships matter more than ever

The UK is experiencing a growing skills shortage, particularly across technical and trade-based industries. Apprenticeships offer a practical solution; combining real-world experience with structured learning.

The electrical industry is one of the hardest hit. The Apprenticeship Gap Report highlights a 227:1 shortfall, equating to more than 9,600 unfilled roles. Without early support, this gap will continue to widen.

This is where industry-led support can make a real difference.

FireAngel supporting National Apprenticeship Week

FireAngel advocates apprenticeships as a valuable career route and has supported National Apprenticeship Week for several years. Many of our apprentices continue their careers with FireAngel after completing their programmes.

We spoke with Josh Crosdale, Apprentice Engineering Technician, to hear how he’s finding his apprenticeship with FireAngel:

‘Now in my third year, FireAngel’s apprenticeship has helped me develop quickly by exposing me to different departments and specialisms, while learning from highly skilled colleagues and feeling fully supported by both the business and my college.’

Three men, each identified by name and job title, are shown in circular frames for National Apprenticeship Week.

We also caught up with two previous apprentices who have grown and developed into promoted roles within the business.

Ben Rabone, Engineering Team Lead, said:

“As an apprentice I was surprised by how hands-on the role was – from visiting test houses and international sites to seeing the real-world impact of our alarms – and being paid to learn while adding value set me up perfectly for progressing into my current Engineering Team Lead role.”

Harry Langely, eCommerce Account Manager, added:

“Starting as a Sales Apprentice gave me access to a wide range of tools, training and skills to build my personal portfolio, which has helped me progress into my current role as an Account Manager in the eCommerce team.”

Supporting apprentices through the Pro Installer Network

The FireAngel Pro Installer Network supports installers at every stage of their career: from apprentices learning the trade to experienced professionals.

For those early in their careers, the network provides:

  • Access to the latest compliance guidance and industry knowledge
  • Ongoing education and professional development
  • Increased confidence and credibility through recognised industry support

Together, these benefits help apprentices move from learning the trade to building a trusted, compliant and sustainable career.

Investing in the future of fire safety

National Apprenticeship Week is a reminder that investing in people strengthens the future of the industry. Apprenticeships support individuals, businesses and the wider economy – and play a vital role in maintaining safety standards across the sector.
