Supporting Swadlincote FRS festive fundraisers

Community

10 January 2023

On 13th December,

crews at Swadlincote Fire Station took part in a sponsored fire engine pull through the town centre to raise money for charity and collect donations for the local foodbank project.

The team began the day in Morrisons, collecting food donations for the South Derbyshire CVS (Community Voluntary Support) foodbank and money for the Fire Fighters Charity, who offer specialist, lifelong support for members of the UK fire services community, empowering individuals to live happier and healthier lives.

FireAngel were delighted to make a donation of food and drinks to the foodbank to support the local community and also a monetary donation to the Fire Fighters Charity. All food donations were stored in the station’s fire engine in preparation for the afternoon’s fire engine pull.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service are proud of their commitment to supporting The Fire Fighters Charity (TFFC) and are always looking for new and exciting ways to challenge ourselves and make our fundraising that little bit more fun,” said Pam Thindal, Service Engagement Officer at Derbyshire FRS.

We were very grateful to FireAngel who supported one of our fire stations who were raising funds for both TFFC and a local food bank, by filling a fire engine with food donations and then pulling the fire engine through the high street! FireAngel were on hand to provide baskets full of food to those most in need, whilst we also collected donations for TFFC. It’s always a pleasure to work with the team at FireAngel.

A team of ten dedicated fire fighters (some sporting Santa and reindeer hats!) from Swadlincote Fire Station then took on the mammoth challenge of pulling the food-filled engine through the town centre. FireAngel’s National Key Account Manager, Elizabeth Mitchel, cheered on the team as they hauled the truck through the streets.
