Trade? Each beep pattern has a different meaning: from detecting dangerous CO levels to signalling a fault or the end of the alarm’s life.
Understanding these alarm sounds is essential for keeping your household safe, especially because an alarm in end-of-life mode can no longer detect carbon monoxide.
FireAngel’s latest range of carbon monoxide alarms uses intelligent sensing technology to provide rapid warnings when CO levels rise. Carbon monoxide is a highly poisonous, invisible and odourless gas, produced when fuel burns incorrectly. The only reliable way to detect it is with a CO alarm.
To help you stay protected, here is what each FireAngel CO alarm beep or flash pattern means.
If your FireAngel CO alarm is sounding four continuous loud beeps, treat it as a serious warning of a potential carbon monoxide leak.
Take these steps immediately:
For any beeps from your CO alarm, you should call the National Gas Emergency Helpline: 0800 111 999 for further guidance. They will be able to assess your situation, confirming if you have a CO leak or if there is a fault with your alarm.
If your FireAngel alarm is under warranty, contact FireAngel Customer Support for further guidance. However, if the alarm is out of warranty, replace the alarm immediately.

A red LED flash every 20 seconds indicates that your FireAngel CO alarm has detected carbon monoxide within the last 30 days.
This is referred to as ‘alarm memory’, find out more about what this feature means here.
Understanding CO alarm replacement beeps
Your FireAngel carbon monoxide alarm uses different beep and light patterns to indicate when it needs attention or replacement. Recognising these signals ensures your home remains protected.
1 beep per minute + 1 amber flash – Low battery
This pattern means the alarm’s battery is running low. The alarm still works but may only function for a short period. Replace the alarm within 30 days to keep your loved ones safe.
2 rapid beeps per minute + 2 amber flashes – Possible fault
Two fast beeps with two amber flashes indicate a potential product fault. The alarm may no longer detect CO accurately. Replace immediately, and if the alarm is under warranty, contact FireAngel Customer Support.
3 rapid beeps per minute + 3 amber flashes – End of life
Three rapid beeps and amber flashes signal that the alarm has reached the end of its life and can no longer detect carbon monoxide. Replace the alarm as soon as possible. CO sensors have a fixed lifespan, and once expired, the device cannot be reset. You can find out when you should replace your FireAngel alarms on the back of the device.
Recognising these replacement signals early helps prevent lapses in CO detection and keeps your home safe. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for replacement to ensure continued protection for your family.
FireAngel CO alarms have a specific lifespan. If your device is:
…it’s time to install a new one to ensure continued protection.
If your FireAngel CO alarm is still within warranty and the isolation pin has been removed, contact FireAngel Customer Support for further help.
If your carbon monoxide alarm is out of warranty, or showing any end-of-life or fault patterns, replace it as soon as possible to keep your home safe.
