Ultra Slim Carbon Monoxide Alarm - Sealed 10-Year Battery

CO Battery included Light Indicator 5 Year Warranty Kitemark

Ultra-slim CO alarm with 10-year sealed battery

Protect your home from carbon monoxide with this ultra-slim CO alarm – certified for homes, caravans, and boats.

Carbon monoxide is invisible, odourless, and potentially fatal. When dangerous CO levels are detected, the FA6829S sounds an immediate 85dB alert and flashes a red warning light, giving instant visual and audible confirmation.

A quiet self-test lets you check the alarm is working without disturbing others. Night-time Sensing dims the LED for restful sleep, the built-in memory logs any activation that occurred in your absence, and Sleep Easy silences low-battery warnings for 9 hours.

Wall, free-standing, or portable – the FA6829S suits homes and leisure vehicles alike. Its 25mm profile, IP44 splash protection, and tamperproof 10-year sealed battery make it ideal for caravans, campervans, and boats.

Where to install your CO alarm

Install your CO alarm in every room containing a fuel-burning appliance such as a boiler, gas fire, or wood burner. Position it on a wall close to the ceiling – at least 150mm from the ceiling and higher than any door or window – or on the ceiling at least 300mm from any wall or light fitting. When in the same room as an appliance, place the alarm between 1m and 3m horizontally from the source.

For additional protection, install an alarm in every bedroom and in any room where occupants spend significant time but may not hear an alarm sounding elsewhere in the property. In bedrooms and rooms remote from a fuel source, position the alarm close to the breathing zone of the occupants.

The FA6829S can also be used as a free-standing or portable alarm, making it ideal for caravans, campervans, motorhomes, and boats. It is certified to BS EN 50291-2:2019 for use in leisure accommodation vehicles. Avoid installing in areas that are excessively dusty, greasy, or exposed to solvent fumes.

See our complete alarm installation guide for full positioning advice.

Compliant and certified for safety

The FireAngel FA6829S is certified to both BS EN 50291-1:2018 for domestic use and BS EN 50291-2:2019 for use in caravans, motorhomes, and boats. Both standards have been independently verified for sensitivity, response time, and reliability. A 5-year manufacturer’s warranty and 10-year sensor life ensure trusted CO protection across the full lifespan of the alarm.

Dual EN certification

BS EN 50291-1:2018 (homes) and BS EN 50291-2:2019 (caravans, motorhomes and boats)

IP44 splash-resistant

Suitable for kitchens, caravans, and boats

Related FAQs

The alarm emits 4 loud beeps followed by a pause, repeated continuously. This pattern is distinct from smoke alarm sounds (which pulse rapidly) and from low-battery warnings (a single chirp every 40–60 seconds).

At the same time, the digital display shows a clear “ALARM” message alongside the current CO level in parts per million (ppm).

If carbon monoxide is still present, the alarm will continue until the air clears. After an event, the red memory indicator flashes to show that the alarm was triggered, even if you were not present at the time.

A quiet self‑test allows you to ensure your carbon monoxide alarm is working, without disturbing anyone else with a loud alarm. A single press of the test button will perform a quiet self test, with the alarm volume at least 10dB below the full volume of your alarm. A double press of the test button will perform a self test at full alarm volume (85dB@3M).

Yes. Under The Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (Amendment) Regulations 2022, private and social landlords in England must fit a CO alarm in every room with a fixed combustion appliance (excluding gas cookers). Similar requirements apply in Scotland and Wales.

No – this carbon monoxide (CO) alarm detects carbon monoxide only. It will not alert you to smoke or fire.

For complete home protection, you also need a dedicated smoke alarm such as the FireAngel FA6629S, or a combination smoke and CO alarm such as the FireAngel SCB10.

Carbon Monoxide is produced when fuels burn incompletely – this could be from a boiler, gas fire, oven, log burner or a blocked flue or chimney. It can also travel through walls from adjoining properties, so as well as having an alarm next to appliances in your property we would also advise you to have one in living spaces and bedrooms. To help prevent a Carbon Monoxide leak we advise getting your appliances regularly serviced by reputable engineers who are gas safety registered.

To safeguard elderly parents, read the FireAngel elderly solutions guide. Local Fire and Rescue Services can also perform free ‘Safe and Well’ checks for vulnerable occupiers. For maximum protection, consider the FireAngel Pro Connected range.

Yes – this Carbon Monoxide Alarm is EN 50291-2 certified and IP44 splash resistant, suitable for all domestic settings, including caravan holiday homes, caravans, motor caravans, and boats.

From October 2022, the law changed surrounding carbon monoxide alarms in rented properties – for both the private and social sectors. As a private or social landlord, you will need to ensure you have a working carbon monoxide alarm 1‑3 metres away from any fuel burning appliances in a property (excluding gas cookers) and that any faults or repairs are carried out on the alarm in a timely manner.

The FA6829S has a 10-year sensor and battery life. When it reaches end of life, it will emit 3 rapid beeps every 60 seconds alongside 3 rapid yellow LED flashes.
At this point, replace the entire unit immediately – the electrochemical sensor deteriorates over time and cannot be serviced or recalibrated.

Replace your end-of-life CO-9D with the FireAngel FA6829S Ultra-slim CO alarm (10-year sealed battery) or the FA6812-EUX10 (replaceable AA batteries). The FA6829S includes a digital display, built-in alarm memory, and Night-time Sensing – all in a slimmer 25mm profile.
