As a Grade D1 mains-powered optical smoke alarm, it supports compliance with EN14604 standards while meeting the needs of modern fire safety specifications in social housing, HMOs, new builds, private rentals and assisted living environments.

Suitable for ceiling installation in bedrooms, hallways, landings and living rooms, the Spec+ range supports flexible placement throughout the property. BLE interconnection capability allows up to 50 devices to be linked for whole-building coverage, making it well suited to HMOs, social housing and multi-occupancy buildings requiring a coordinated alarm response.

With a 10-year lifespan and compliance with current safety standards, it provides a reliable, long-term solution for professional installations across multiple property portfolios.

Yes. The core five alarms in the Spec+ range are powered by standard household mains electricity and include a Panasonic rechargeable lithium backup battery. This ensures the alarm continues to operate during power outages, providing uninterrupted protection. The long-life battery is designed to last for the life of the alarm, reducing maintenance and eliminating the need for routine battery replacements.

Why does the Spec+ range use Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)?

The Spec+ range uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to provide fast, secure wireless connectivity for simplified setup, device pairing and ongoing maintenance through compatible mobile apps and smart building systems. Exclusive to the FireAngel Professional range, BLE prevents interference or cross-connection with devices outside the network, ensuring reliable performance. What is UltraSense™ technology?

UltraSense™ technology uses an advanced dual-sensor chamber to provide fast, accurate detection of a wide range of fire types, including early-stage smouldering fires, liquid fires and fast-flaming fires. By combining the capabilities traditionally provided by separate ionisation and optical alarms into a single device, UltraSense™ delivers broader fire detection coverage and faster response times than single-technology alarms, helping to enhance safety while simplifying installation.

What happens if the FireAngel Angel Pro app isn’t working?

The FireAngel Angel Pro app is designed to support installation, setup and diagnostics, but it is not required for the alarms to operate. The SP500 / SP510 / SP520 / SP530 / SP540 can all be installed and configured manually, ensuring protection is not dependent on the app. These are alarm-first products, with the app simply providing additional convenience, visibility and support for installers and customers.

UltraSense™ technology

UltraSense™ dual sensor chamber technology replaces the need for two separate alarms (ionisation and optical).

Bluetooth Low Energy

Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) is a low-power wireless technology for short-range data transfer in IoT, wearables and smart home devices.

Smart silence

Smart silence allows you to stop an alerting alarm from chirping for 10 minutes.

Quiet self-test

Quiet self-test checks your alarm at a volume at least 10dB below full level without disturbing others. Double-press for a full 85dB test.

Alarm memory

Alarm memory lasts 7 days. LED flashes for the first 3 days. Press test to recall events or hold 10s to clear the memory.

Sleep Easy™

Sleep Easy™ mode stops low battery beeps overnight without compromising smoke protection.

Night sensing

Automatically detects low ambient light levels and adjusts the alarm’s indicators or behaviour during night time hours.

Low-battery warning

When the battery is low, the yellow fault LED will flash once with a chirp every 40 seconds.

Fault indication

The alarm performs regular self-tests. When a fault is detected, the yellow LED will flash twice with 2 chirps every 40 seconds.

End-of-life warning

When the alarm reaches the end of its life (EOL), the yellow LED flashes with 3 chirps every 40 seconds. The alarm must be replaced within 30 days.

Bug mesh

Bug mesh prevents small insects and debris from triggering the alarm.

Dust compensation

Dust compensation reduces nuisance alarms caused by dust buildup in the photoelectric chamber while maintaining smoke alarm performance.
